“Make The Move”

People who do exploits for God are people who are not afraid to “make the move!” In Hebrews, chapter eleven, the “Hall of Faith” chapter, is filled with people who “made the move.” For instance,…

Noah— “Being warned of God of things not seen as yet…

prepared an ark to the saving of his house…” (vs. 7).

Abraham— “...When he was called to go out into a place which he should receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went” (vs. 8).

Moses— “...Forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing Him who is invisible” (vs. 27).

Joshua was also a “make the move” person. He came on the scene as the leader of Israel at a time when major decisions had to be made… Would they cross the Jordan and possess their land of promise, or would they continue to wander aimlessly in the wilderness, and accomplish nothing for God? Someone had to address these questions and decide what action would be taken. This person was Joshua.

Joshua, the first chapter, gives us insight into what motivated him to be a “make the move” person. God gave Joshua five things, all of which belong to us today…

#1—God’s Permission: In verse 2, God said to Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them.” God was saying, “Go, you have my permission.” (Read also Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:15).

#2—God’s Promise: God said, “Joshua, every place the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you” (vs. 3). God’s Word is His promise! When you have God’s Word on any given situation, hold fast to it; stand on it! It is His promise!

#3—God’s Presence: “I will be with thee,” God said. “I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee!” (vs. 5). In Matthew 28:20, Jesus also promised us His presence… “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” God is with you!

#4—God’s Power: God challenged Joshua to “be strong and courageous” (vs. 6-7). You see, if God is with us, His power is available. Ephesians 6:10 tells us to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!”

#5—God’s Provision: Obedience to God’s Word always results in God’s provision. God promised Joshua that if he obeyed His Word, “then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (vs. 7-8).

Are you ready to “make the move”? Go ahead, make the tough decisions, take the risk and walk by faith!
