“Six Keys To Having A Productive Summer”

Date: 6/15/2011

Do you put God on the "back burner" during the summer? Like many people, when fall comes around you may be feeling like you are behind and can't catch up! The following are 6 practical keys that you can implement in your life to make sure that when the summer ends you have made the most of every opportunity God has given you!

     1) Stick to your personal growth plan. If you don't have a plan, we recommend the 2011 Spiritual Growth Plan which couples daily Bible reading and spiritual, personal or family enrichment reading. The plan is available at our Church Resource Center.

     2) Utilize the summer to refocus your priorities. What do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days? Determine these goals and ask someone to ask you periodically if you are on track for accountability.

     3) Attend church or have church every Sunday. If you are on vacation, go to church in the community where you are. Maybe your family is on a camping trip, that's okay! You can have church by worshiping the Lord wherever you are!

4) Schedule plans that facilitate building relationships. For example, invite your neighbors or some old friends over for a barbeque to build new relationships with those who don't have a church home. People are much more likely to visit a church when they have relationships with the people who go

there.

5) Evangelize your friends or those who are in your "circle of influence."  Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ this summer with someone! This could be someone that you also need to build a more meaningful relationship with: a coworker, a neighbor or your favorite cashier at the grocery store. "Friendship Evangelism" works and you could be just what someone is waiting on!

6) Enter into fall refreshed, renewed and revived. Enjoy your summer so that when fall comes you are ready for the work God has for you.

Ephesians 5:15-17

"So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in  these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.”
