“The Touch of God” (Part III)
Date: 11/16/2011
Speaker: Pastor Johnny Moore
There is no touch like the touch of God. His touch is the difference between life and death; hope and despair; victory and defeat. For the past 2 weeks we have looked at the story of “the woman with the issue of blood” as described in the gospel of Mark 5:25-34. Let us continue to compare her situation to our individual lives.
#1—She Needed The Touch of God
#2—She Wanted The Touch of God
#3—She Reached Out For The Touch of God: Verse 27 tells us that, “… She came in the press behind, and touched His garment…” She knew that her only help was God. She needed His touch. She wanted His touch, so therefore she moved. She “seized the moment.” If we read the scriptures that precede this story, we can learn a very important principle. You see, Jesus was not standing still in the crowd. He was on a mission. He was on His way to Jairus’ house to heal his sick daughter (vs. 23-24). The principle that we see here is this… “When Jesus is moving, it’s time for you to move!” This little lady realized that if she was to receive God’s touch, she was going to have to reach out for it. She refused to allow other people (“peer pressure”) to keep her from touching Jesus. She “pressed in”!
#4—She Received The Touch of God: In verse 29, we read, “And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.” When she touched God, God touched her! When God touches you, you change!
♦ Jacob changed from a deceiver to a Prince
♦ Isaiah changed from a sinner to a saint
♦ Jeremiah changed from being shy to being bold
♦ Daniel changed from being weak to being strong
Someone reading this today needs God’s touch. I sense it even as I write. God has been dealing with you about making a change, and fear has hindered you from moving. Rise up today in the name of Jesus, and move with God. Do you need His touch? Do you want His touch? Then obey Him, and reach out for it. He will touch you, and you will be changed.
