“Worship Who? (Part I)”
Mankind was created as a people of worship. Every man and every woman not only has a desire to worship, but also a need to worship. Deep in the heart of every person is a void, an emptiness, a craving, that cries out for satisfaction and fulfillment. But most have no idea what truly satisfies this cry of the heart. Therefore, their entire life is spent in pursuit of happiness, always searching for something “new” to satisfy the heart’s craving, but yet, never finding that which completely fills the “void.” The answer to this dilemma can be found in Genesis 2:7, “. . . And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.”
You see, man was empty and “lifeless” until God breathed life into him. Humanity might as well face it: “Man will continue to remain empty and ‘lifeless’ until he allows God to breathe life into him.” Without a relationship with God, man knows nothing about true life. The essence of this “relationship” is worship. The only solution then to the “craving of man’s heart” will be found in the worship of God, “the Giver of Life.” Jesus said it like this, “. . . Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:8). Let’s take a closer look at “the Lord thy God,” the person of our worship:
#1—He is “Elohim, The All—Powerful Creator”: There are 2,500 references in the Bible to God as “Elohim, The All-Powerful Creator,” 31 of which are in the first chapter of Genesis. John 1:1-5 tells us that “. . . all things are made by Him . . .” Colossians 1:17 tells us that “. . . by Him all things consist. . .”, meaning that the God who created all things, is holding all things together. The Apostle Paul says in Acts 17:28, in reference to God as the “All-Powerful Creator,” that “...in Him, we live and move and have our being...”
How are things in your life? Does it seem empty and void? Is it all falling apart? Is your heart crying out for more? Maybe your marriage or your home needs the All-Powerful Creator to breathe fresh life into it. When we recognize God as the “All-Powerful Creator,” and begin to worship Him as so, He begins to breathe life into us, and our heart begins to find true satisfaction.
