Worship Who? (Part III)

Worship is a natural thing to do. When in love with someone, you willingly serve them. As a Christian, Jesus Christ should be the central love of our life. When He is, worship is not a problem. Therefore, the most important part of worship is serving the right person.

#1—He is “Elohim, The All-Powerful Creator

#2—He is “Jehovah, The Self-Existent One”

#3—He is “Adonai, The Lord, Our Master”: “Adonai” indicates headship or leadership. It expresses the personal relationship between a master and his servant, thus, symbolizing the relationship between God and His people.

Jesus desires not only to be our Savior, but also our Lord and our Master. When we worship Him as “Adonai, Our Lord, Our Master,” we are saying to Him that we are totally dependent upon Him. It is always the responsibility of “The Master” to provide for the needs of His servants, as well as to give them direction, training and accountability. It is not “bondage” or “a sign of weakness” to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and our Master; it is a healthy thing to do.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:24-25 that, “No man can serve two masters . . .You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore, I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.”

Did you catch what Jesus said? He said that everyone will be servant to one of two things: God or mammon (riches, wealth or things). But if you notice, He never mentions mammon again. The reason is this: Jesus thought that if a person had to choose between “God” and “things” surely, he would be smart enough to choose God. Therefore, He continues in verse 33 by saying, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”

Whose servant are you today? Are you worshiping God as the “Adonai,” the Lord, your Master, or are you still serving the things of this world? There is a peace that comes to those who worship Jesus Christ as “Lord and Master,” that “mammon” will never produce. Lift your voice today and worship Jesus Christ as your “Lord and Master,” and begin to experience His peace, His joy and His strength.
